Maggie's Farm
Through The course of a job a young man works through his own feelings of unrest as well as his day to day work.
First Attempt at a first draft.
Idea 1:
Maggie’s Farm
We start with fingers on a time clock.
We pull back and see Anne Marie. A short 40’s to 50’s year old woman. She smiles, says hi to other people. We don’t see anyone’s faces yet, just their backs. We follow her down the stairs. She greets everyone at the departments, everyone she walks by, employees whoever. She goes to her register and logs on. The manager is happy to see her but we don’t see his face. Maybe just his chest and we just hear his voice.
(Let it be noted the beeps have to be important. Needs to be soft, not hard beeping sound. It has to be a familiar beep so it’s not irritating, but it’s ever present in the grocery store world. There is no music at this time, only beeps.)
There needs to be a feel of time passing, but you also see that she’s talking with customer’s and enjoying ability to give good customer service. Maybe we don’t hear any of the customer’s speaking, just her voice and how she interacts with others. She runs into an issue with a customer that requires managerial help and pages her manager over. After this incident we start hearing more intercom announcements and pages for help.
We see her sitting and eating her lunch. We hear music over the intercom for the first time.
Goes back to work and is great, then goes to clock out. Says goodnight to everyone. Is super cheery and nice.
We follow her as she leaves the store, goes to her old slightly beat up car. She takes off her work shirt and puts on an old sweater covered in cat hair. She sits in her car and hangs her nametag on her rearview mirror (closeup of her nametag and we see her name and the amount of time she’s been employed at this job for the first time.) She drives away. Her car pulls into her driveway. She gets out and enters her nondescript house. (We don’t see the house right away. We don’t reveal it, we only see bits and pieces while she talks to her cats. Little snippets of dishes piled up, trash in the corner, offsetting disgusting things, etc… you hear the tv turn on and she sits in her recliner. We are focused on her face and then pan out and see her deplorable living situation.
Credits: Lots of beeping
Danny (Eliott character that needs to chase things to stay distracted.) Starts out at his orientation for courtesy clerk. Maggie’s farm cheesy video that he’s watching. There’s a tour around the grocery store and we meet the don character and the john lane character. Danny is in the same orientation as the Shelby character.
